They said:
“Sighthounds can never be trusted off lead.”

That is what most owners are told. It is a starting point, not a life sentence. The assumption comes from applying methods designed for other breeds to dogs that process the world through speed, sight, and instinct. The Recall Residential works with the sighthound temperament rather than against it.

THE PROGRAMME
The Recall Residential is a minimum 5-night boarding and e-collar training programme built around how sighthounds and lurchers actually think. Not adapted from your basic standard dog training. Designed from the ground up and tested in real-world prey drive conditions.

Each stay is structured in phases. Each phase builds on the last. By the final session your dog is tested in conditions that replicate the real-world moments that matter most to you as an owner.

Day 1: Foundation and relationship building
The first session establishes a bond of trust between the dog and handler this is vital for the recall foundation. Your dog learns that responding to a recall cue has genuine value. Conditioned reinforcement is introduced and stimulus control work begins. No distractions at this stage. Clarity comes first.

Day 2: Educator Mini introduced
The Educator Mini is introduced from day two. The tone signal is conditioned as a recall cue by pairing it consistently with reward. Once the tone is established as a reliable recall cue and your dog is responding with confidence, the programme moves forward to distraction training. The static tap is available if the tone alone proves insufficient, but for many dogs it is never needed.

Days 2 and 3: Distraction training
With the tone recall established, controlled distractions are introduced progressively. Movement, other animals, environmental triggers. Your dog learns to disengage from competing stimuli and return to handler on cue. Thresholds are managed carefully throughout.

Days 3 and 4: Consolidation under pressure
The tone recall is tested against increasing levels of distraction and predatory arousal. The Educator Mini gives a communication channel that remains open at distance and at speed, in conditions where voice alone would fail. The static tap is only introduced at this stage if the tone is not holding under pressure.

Day 5: Real-life prey drive recall session
The final session is a genuine test. Your dog is taken into both open field and urban environments where live distractions are present. This is not a controlled training scenario. It is the condition your dog will face in real life, used here as proof of everything built across the week. The session is filmed.

A NOTE ON PROGRESS
Every dog is different. Age, temperament, prior learning history, and the strength of individual prey drive all influence how quickly a reliable recall develops. The 5-night Recall Residential is designed to establish a solid foundation and, in many cases, achieve a level of recall that allows genuine off-lead freedom. However, some dogs will require additional time to consolidate that foundation fully.
If your dog needs more than 5 nights to reach an acceptable level of recall, extended stays are available at the same nightly rate. Progress will always be communicated to you honestly throughout the stay so you can make an informed decision about whether to extend. The goal is a recall you can trust in real life. That timeline is led by your dog, not by the length of the booking.
